High Personality Wines : Making delicious wines of high personality is directly related to the difficult locations of our vineyard sources, the limited production of our bottlings and the varietals we use. "Character through adversity" is an expression that we believe applies to people and grapevines and surviving adversity builds character, and personality, in both.

West County Trail
South end of First Street near the American Wine Building in Forestville -- paved for walking, bicycle riding, and roller skating. It runs along the abandoned railroad line that was once the Petaluma and Santa Rosa Railway, a line that linked Sebastopol, Forestville, and Santa Rosa/Petaluma. The Trail ofers beautiful views of farms, vineyards and other agricultural lands, giving a hint of what Sonoma County looked like before development.

Anderson Valley
a small area in Mendocino County, just out of Cloverdale via Highway 128 that includes the cities of Navarro, Bonnville, Philo and Yorkville. Originally a major apple growing area and known for it's fruit and apple cider stands, the area now produces some award winning Pinot Noir wines. Some of the area's wineries are Brutocao Winery & Cellars, Husch Vineyards and Navarro Vineyards. The first town you will come to on your exploration on Hwy 128 is Yorkville. Just a blink of an eye and you're through it, but if you have time, visit Yorkville Cellars ( and take in the views at Maple Creek Winery. There is a general store, which depending upon the time of year may be closed, but if you hit it right, there are some good sandwiches and goodies inside. This area used to have Christmas Tree Farms and apple orchards, but they have been removed in favor of grapes. Next in route is Bonnville. This is an interesting old agricultural town, again known for red apples and the timber/logging industry. There are some great old redwoods still around in the hills, and in a little park that we'll talk about up the road our of Philo. The Boonville Hotel is the place to eat and stay. ( Time it right when the fair is in town for a cute country fair experience, generally the 2nd or 3rd week in September. ( The local market is a good stop, and there's a brewery in town that offers some home made brews.
